Ace
Ace was a British rock band that formed in 1972. The band consisted of members Paul Carrack (vocals, keyboards), Alan "Bam" King (guitar), Phil Harris (guitar), Terry "Tex" Comer (bass) and Steve Witherington (drums). Their most popular song was "How Long," which was released in 1974 and reached number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band disbanded in 1977 after releasing three albums.
Despite their initial success, Ace struggled to maintain their momentum and went through a few lineup changes over the years. Carrack left the band in 1977 to join the band Squeeze, and King also departed around the same time. The band soldiered on with new members, but they never achieved the same level of success as they did with "How Long."
Ace disbanded in the late 1970s, but Carrack went on to have a successful solo career and also played with bands like Squeeze, Roxy Music, and Mike + The Mechanics. In the 1990s, a new version of Ace briefly formed with some of the original members, but they didn't release any new music and eventually disbanded again.
