Blodwyn Pig is a British blues-rock band that was formed in 1968 by Mick Abrahams, the original guitarist of Jethro Tull. The band's name was inspired by a character from a British comic book. Blodwyn Pig's music combines elements of blues, jazz, and rock and roll, and is characterized by Abrahams' distinctive guitar playing, as well as the use of saxophone, keyboards, and other instruments. The band's lineup has changed over the years, but has always included Abrahams as the driving force behind the music. The band released their debut album, "Ahead Rings Out," in 1969, which was critically acclaimed and reached the top 10 on the UK album charts. Their second album, "Getting to This," was released in 1970 and featured a more experimental and eclectic sound. Despite their critical success, Blodwyn Pig never achieved the same level of commercial success as other British bands of the era, such as Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd. However, their influence on the development of British blues and progressive rock cannot be understated. Blodwyn Pig continues to tour and record music to this day, with Abrahams remaining as the only original member. The band's music is revered by fans of British blues and rock, and their legacy continues to inspire new generations of musicians. Blodwyn Pig I (1968 - 1970)
