Danny Gatton (1945-1994) was an American guitarist known for his virtuosic playing across a variety of genres, including rockabilly, jazz, and country. He was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in nearby Maryland, where he began playing guitar as a child. Gatton was known for his technical prowess on the guitar, often incorporating complex picking and chord changes into his playing. He was also known for his use of a variety of guitar styles and techniques, including hybrid picking, chicken picking, and slide guitar. Gatton played with a number of notable musicians throughout his career, including Robert Gordon, Roger Miller, and Les Paul. He also released several albums under his own name, including "88 Elmira St." and "Cruisin' Deuces." Despite his considerable talent, Gatton struggled with depression and took his own life in 1994 at the age of 49.
