The Dave Clark Five was a British rock band that was active from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s. The band was named after its founder and drummer, Dave Clark. The Dave Clark Five achieved considerable success in the United Kingdom and the United States during the 1960s, with a string of hits that included "Glad All Over," "Bits and Pieces," "Catch Us If You Can," and "Because." They were known for their energetic live performances and their signature "beat" sound, which combined elements of rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and pop music. In addition to their musical success, the Dave Clark Five were also notable for their business acumen. Dave Clark himself was heavily involved in the management and production of the band, and the group's success was due in no small part to his shrewd business sense. The Dave Clark Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. While the band has not been active since the mid-1970s, their music continues to be popular among fans of 1960s rock and roll. From Tottenham, England. -GSH The Dave Clark Five (1961 - 1970)
