George Harrison (1943-2001) was a British musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as a guitarist and vocalist for the Beatles. He was born in Liverpool, England, and was the youngest member of the Beatles, joining the group when he was just 16 years old. Along with John Lennon and Paul McCartney, he was one of the primary songwriters and creative forces behind the Beatles' music. Harrison was also an accomplished solo artist, releasing several critically acclaimed albums throughout his career, including "All Things Must Pass," which is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums in rock history. He was known for his distinctive guitar playing, which often incorporated elements of Indian music, and for his spiritual and philosophical lyrics. In addition to his music, Harrison was also known for his interest in Eastern spirituality and his support of various charitable causes. He was a devotee of Hinduism and became good friends with Indian musician Ravi Shankar, who taught him how to play the sitar. He also organized the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, which raised funds and awareness for refugees from the Bangladesh Liberation War. Harrison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2004, and as a member of the Beatles in 1988.
