The Ides of March is an American rock band that was formed in 1964 in Berwyn, Illinois. The band is best known for its 1970 hit single "Vehicle," which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band originally formed as a high school group called The Shon-Dels, but changed their name to The Ides of March in 1966. The group's original lineup included Jim Peterik on guitar and vocals, Larry Millas on guitar, Bob Bergland on bass, Mike Borch on drums, and Chuck Soumar on saxophone. Peterik was the primary songwriter for the group, and he wrote many of the band's early songs. In 1970, The Ides of March released their debut album, "Vehicle," which featured the hit single of the same name. The song was a huge success, and it remains the band's most famous track. The group continued to release albums throughout the 1970s, but they never matched the success of "Vehicle." In the 1980s, Peterik went on to form the band Survivor, which achieved great success with hits like "Eye of the Tiger" and "The Search Is Over." However, The Ides of March continued to perform and release music sporadically over the years. Today, The Ides of March is still active and continues to perform live shows. The band's current lineup includes original members Jim Peterik, Larry Millas, Bob Bergland, and Mike Borch, as well as newer members Scott May on keyboards and Steve Eisen on saxophone.
