"It's a Beautiful Day" is a rock band that was formed in San Francisco in 1967. The band was led by David LaFlamme, a classically trained violinist who had previously played with bands such as Orkustra and Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. The other members of the band included Linda LaFlamme on keyboards, Pattie Santos on vocals, Hal Wagenet on guitar, Mitchell Holman on bass, and Val Fuentes on drums. The band's self-titled debut album, "It's a Beautiful Day," was released in 1969 and was a mix of rock, folk, and classical music. The album included the hit single "White Bird," which featured David LaFlamme's haunting violin and Pattie Santos' ethereal vocals. The song became a staple of FM radio and is still popular today. The band's second album, "Marrying Maiden," was released in 1970 and featured more of the band's unique blend of rock and classical music. The album included the songs "Don and Dewey" and "Soapstone Mountain," which became fan favorites. Throughout the 1970s, the band continued to tour and record music, releasing several more albums, including "Choice Quality Stuff/Anytime," "At Carnegie Hall," and "It's a Beautiful Day...Today." "It's a Beautiful Day" is remembered as one of the pioneering bands of the San Francisco psychedelic rock scene of the late 1960s. The band's use of classical instruments such as the violin and keyboards, along with their eclectic mix of musical styles, helped to create a unique sound that was influential in the development of progressive rock.
