Kenny Loggins is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who is best known for his work in the soft rock and adult contemporary genres. He was born on January 7, 1948, in Everett, Washington. Loggins began his music career as a songwriter, penning songs for other artists such as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Dave Mason. In the mid-1970s, he formed the rock duo Loggins and Messina with fellow musician Jim Messina. The duo released a series of successful albums throughout the 1970s, including "Sittin' In," "Loggins and Messina," and "Mother Lode." After Loggins and Messina disbanded in 1976, Loggins went on to have a successful solo career. He released a number of hit singles, including "This Is It," "Footloose," and "Danger Zone," which was featured in the movie "Top Gun." Loggins also recorded several successful movie soundtracks, including "Caddyshack," "Footloose," and "Top Gun." In addition to his music career, Loggins has also worked in television and film. He wrote the theme song for the hit television show "Growing Pains" and has contributed songs to numerous other movies and television shows.
