Mark-Almond Band

The Mark-Almond Band is a British jazz-rock band that was formed in 1970 by Jon Mark and Johnny Almond. Jon Mark played guitar and sang, while Johnny Almond played saxophone, flute, and other woodwind instruments.

The band released their self-titled debut album in 1971, which received critical acclaim for its fusion of jazz, rock, and blues. They went on to release several more albums throughout the 1970s, including "Rising" (1972), "Mark-Almond 73" (1973), "To the Heart" (1976), and "Other People's Rooms" (1978).

The Mark-Almond Band's music is characterized by its sophisticated arrangements, tight harmonies, and intricate instrumental interplay. Their songs often feature extended instrumental sections that showcase the band's virtuosity, with Mark's guitar playing and Almond's saxophone and flute solos standing out in particular.

The band's popularity declined in the 1980s, and they disbanded in 1981. However, they reformed in the early 1990s and continued to perform and record new music into the 21st century.

The Mark-Almond Band's unique blend of jazz, rock, and blues has earned them a devoted following among music fans, and they are regarded as one of the most influential bands of the 1970s jazz-rock movement.
