The Music Explosion was an American garage rock band that formed in Mansfield, Ohio in 1966. The original lineup consisted of Jamie Lyons (vocals), Richard Nesta (guitar), Burton Stahl (bass), Bob Avery (organ), and Ray Ransom (drums). The band's biggest hit was the song "Little Bit O' Soul," which was released in 1967 and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by British songwriters John Carter and Ken Lewis and had previously been recorded by The Little Darlings and The Outsiders. However, it was The Music Explosion's version that became the most popular and enduring. "Little Bit O' Soul" features a catchy, upbeat melody and a prominent organ riff, which helped to establish it as a classic of the garage rock genre. The song's success led to appearances on popular television programs like American Bandstand and The Ed Sullivan Show. Despite the success of "Little Bit O' Soul," The Music Explosion was unable to replicate its success with subsequent releases. The band's follow-up singles failed to chart as high, and the group disbanded in 1969. Today, The Music Explosion is remembered as one of the many one-hit wonders of the 1960s, but "Little Bit O' Soul" remains a beloved classic of the era. The Chosen Few ( ? - 1966)
