The Raspberries

The Raspberries were an American rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1970. The original lineup consisted of Eric Carmen (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Wally Bryson (guitar, vocals), Dave Smalley (bass, vocals), and Jim Bonfanti (drums).

The band's sound was heavily influenced by the British Invasion bands of the 1960s, particularly The Beatles and The Who, and they became known for their catchy power pop melodies, jangly guitars, and lush harmonies. Their music was often described as a bridge between the 1960s pop-rock era and the emerging punk and new wave scenes of the late 1970s.

The Raspberries had a string of hits in the early 1970s, including "Go All The Way," "I Wanna Be With You," and "Let's Pretend." These songs showcased the band's ability to craft infectious pop hooks and garnered them a large fan base.

Despite their success, The Raspberries disbanded in 1975, but their influence on the power pop genre continued to be felt in the decades that followed. In fact, many artists, including Cheap Trick and Bruce Springsteen, have cited The Raspberries as a major influence on their music.

In 2004, The Raspberries reunited for a series of concerts, and in 2007, they released their first album of new material in over 30 years, titled "Raspberries Refreshed." While the band's original run was relatively short, their impact on the rock and pop music of the 1970s and beyond is undeniable.
