Rival Sons formed from the remnants of guitarist Scott Holiday's previous band. Holiday came across Buchanan in 2006 while searching on MySpace for a singer. Rival Sons' sound draws heavily on classic rock influences such as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Free, while also incorporating elements of blues, soul, and funk. The band's music is known for its raw, energetic performances and powerful vocals from Jay Buchanan. Rival Sons have released several albums since their formation, including "Before the Fire" (2009), "Head Down" (2012), and "Great Western Valkyrie" (2014). Their 2016 album "Hollow Bones" earned critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance for the track "Too Bad". The band has toured extensively in North America, Europe, and Australia, and has gained a reputation for their high-energy live shows. They have also shared the stage with notable acts such as Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Kiss.
