Sammy Hagar is an American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He was born on October 13, 1947, in Salinas, California. Hagar is best known for his work as the lead vocalist of the hard rock band Van Halen from 1985 to 1996, and again for a reunion tour in 2004. He has also had a successful solo career and has been involved in various other musical projects. Hagar began his musical career in the late 1960s as the lead singer of the San Francisco-based band Montrose. He then went on to release a series of solo albums in the 1970s and 1980s, including "Standing Hampton" and "Three Lock Box", which were commercially successful and contained hit singles such as "I Can't Drive 55" and "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy". In 1985, Hagar joined Van Halen as the replacement for David Lee Roth. He recorded four studio albums with the band, including "5150", "OU812", "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge", and "Balance". During his time with Van Halen, the band experienced continued commercial success, selling millions of albums and touring extensively. Hagar left Van Halen in 1996 and was replaced by the band's original lead singer, David Lee Roth. He then continued his solo career and formed a new band, The Waboritas. In addition to his music career, Hagar is also an entrepreneur and has been involved in various business ventures, including his own line of tequila, Cabo Wabo.
