The Seekers
The Seekers are an Australian folk music group that formed in Melbourne in 1962. The group consisted of Judith Durham on vocals, Keith Potger on 12-string guitar, Bruce Woodley on guitar and vocals, and Athol Guy on double bass and vocals.
The Seekers rose to international fame in the mid-1960s with hits such as "I'll Never Find Another You," "A World of Our Own," "The Carnival Is Over," and "Georgy Girl." Their music was characterized by their distinctive vocal harmonies and folk-inspired instrumentation.
The group's success was not limited to Australia, as they achieved significant chart success in the UK and the US. They were the first Australian group to top the UK charts with "I'll Never Find Another You" and "The Carnival Is Over." In 1967, the group was named Australians of the Year, and they continue to be regarded as one of Australia's most successful and iconic musical acts.
The Seekers have undergone various lineup changes over the years, with Judith Durham leaving the group in the late 1960s to pursue a solo career. However, the group has continued to tour and record with different members, and they remain popular among folk music enthusiasts around the world.
