Slade is a British rock band that rose to fame in the 1970s. The band was formed in Wolverhampton in 1966 and consisted of lead vocalist Noddy Holder, guitarist Dave Hill, bassist Jim Lea, and drummer Don Powell. Slade's music was a mix of glam rock, hard rock, and pop, and they were known for their catchy, sing-along choruses and high-energy live performances. The band had a string of hits in the UK in the 1970s, including "Cum On Feel the Noize," "Mama Weer All Crazee Now," "Gudbuy T'Jane," and "Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me." Slade was also known for their distinctive image, which included glittery stage costumes, platform boots, and brightly colored hats. The band's popularity peaked in the mid-1970s, and they were one of the most successful acts of the decade in the UK. Slade continued to record and tour throughout the 1980s and beyond, although their commercial success declined. The band's classic line-up remained intact until 1991, when Jim Lea left the group. Don Powell was the last remaining original member, but he left in 2021. Slade had a significant impact on the British rock scene, and their music continues to be popular with fans of classic rock. In the 1980s, the band Quiet Riot seemingly built a career on covering Slade hits. Slade I (1966 - 1992)
