Southern Pacific was a country rock band that was active from 1983 to 1991. The band was formed by former members of two popular 1970s bands, The Doobie Brothers and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The original lineup of Southern Pacific included Keith Knudsen (drums, vocals), John McFee (guitar, vocals), Stu Cook (bass), and Tim Goodman (lead vocals). The band released their self-titled debut album in 1985, which spawned the hit single "Thing Called Love." Southern Pacific's music was a blend of country, rock, and pop, and they often incorporated elements of traditional bluegrass and Western swing into their sound. The band was known for their energetic live performances and their strong musicianship. In addition to "Thing Called Love," Southern Pacific had several other hit singles, including "Honey I Dare You," "New Shade of Blue," and "Midnight Highway." They also released several successful albums, including "Killbilly Hill," "Zuma," and "County Line." Southern Pacific disbanded in 1991 after releasing their fifth and final album, "Bluegrass Album." After the band broke up, some of the members went on to pursue solo careers, while others joined other bands. Today, Southern Pacific is remembered as one of the most successful country rock bands of the 1980s. Southern Pacific I (1983 - 1986)
