The Alan Parsons Project
Alan Parsons is an English musician, audio engineer, and record producer born on December 20, 1948. He is best known for his work as the sound engineer on albums by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Hollies, among others. He was also a founding member of the progressive rock band The Alan Parsons Project.
Parsons started his career as an assistant engineer at Abbey Road Studios, where he worked on the Beatles' albums "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be." He later worked as an engineer on Pink Floyd's iconic album "The Dark Side of the Moon," which is considered one of the greatest albums of all time.
In 1975, Parsons formed The Alan Parsons Project with collaborator Eric Woolfson. The group released 10 studio albums between 1976 and 1987, with hits such as "Eye in the Sky," "Games People Play," and "Time." The Alan Parsons Project's music is known for its blend of progressive rock, pop, and electronic elements, as well as its concept album format.
After the group disbanded, Parsons continued to work as a producer and engineer, collaborating with artists such as Al Stewart, The Hollies, and Pilot. He also released several solo albums, including "Try Anything Once" and "A Valid Path."
In addition to his music career, Parsons has also been involved in the development of audio software and has authored books on audio engineering. He has won numerous awards for his contributions to the music industry, including four Grammy Awards and an ASCAP Award for lifetime achievement.
