The Doobie Brothers

The Doobie Brothers are an American rock band that was formed in San Jose, California in 1970. The original lineup of the band included Tom Johnston (guitar, vocals), Patrick Simmons (guitar, vocals), Dave Shogren (bass), and drummer John Hartman. Over the years, the band's lineup has undergone several changes, but Johnston and Simmons have remained the core members of the group.

The Doobie Brothers are known for their harmonies, catchy hooks, and blend of rock, R&B, and bluegrass influences. Their early music was heavily influenced by the California sound of the late 1960s and early 1970s, with songs like "Listen to the Music," "China Grove," and "Long Train Runnin'" becoming hits.

The band's popularity peaked in the late 1970s with the release of albums like "Toulouse Street," "The Captain and Me," and "Minute by Minute," which produced hit singles such as "What a Fool Believes," "Black Water," and "Takin' It to the Streets."

In addition to their commercial success, the Doobie Brothers were also known for their dynamic live shows, which featured extended jams and improvisation. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.

Today, the Doobie Brothers continue to tour and record new music, with a lineup that includes Johnston, Simmons, and other longtime members, as well as newer additions to the band.

None of these guys are brothers, and none of them is named "Doobie"! -GSH
