The Gods were a British rock band that formed in 1965 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The original lineup consisted of Mick Taylor on lead guitar, Ken Hensley on keyboards and vocals, Joe Konas on rhythm guitar, Greg Lake on bass and vocals, and Lee Kerslake on drums. The band gained popularity in the UK rock scene of the mid-1960s, opening for bands like The Who and The Yardbirds. Their music was heavily influenced by blues rock and psychedelic rock, and they were known for their energetic live performances. The Gods released their debut album, "Genesis," in 1968. The album featured a mix of original songs and covers, including a version of The Beatles' "Hey Bulldog." Mick Taylor left the band shortly after the release of the album to join the Rolling Stones. The Gods continued to release music throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, with various lineup changes. Notable members included John Glascock, who later joined Jethro Tull, and Brian Glascock, who played with Motörhead and The Kinks. Despite their influence on the UK rock scene, The Gods never achieved significant commercial success. However, their legacy lives on as a cult favorite among fans of 1960s British rock.
