The James Gang was an American rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1966. The band's original lineup consisted of guitarist Joe Walsh, bassist Tom Kriss, and drummer Jim Fox. They were known for their high-energy live performances and blues-rock sound. The James Gang gained popularity in the late 1960s with the release of their first album, "Yer' Album" (1969), which featured their hit single "Funk #49." The band's second album, "James Gang Rides Again" (1970), also achieved commercial success and is considered a classic of the genre. Joe Walsh left the band in 1971 to pursue a solo career, and the James Gang went through a series of lineup changes over the next few years. The band continued to release albums, but they never achieved the same level of success as they did with Walsh. Despite their relatively short tenure, the James Gang had a significant influence on the development of rock music. Many of their songs, including "Funk #49," have been covered by other artists, and their sound has been cited as an influence by numerous musicians. The James Gang I (1967 - 1969)
