He left the band in 1968 and released his debut solo album, "Alone Together", in 1970. The album was a critical and commercial success, featuring the hit singles "Only You Know and I Know" and "Feelin' Alright", which has become a rock standard and has been covered by many artists. He also collaborated with other musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, and Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood. In the 1980s, Mason had a hit with the song "We Just Disagree".
