Orleans
Orleans is a rock band that was formed in New York City in 1972. The original members were John Hall, Larry Hoppen, Wells Kelly, and Lance Hoppen. The band is best known for their hit songs "Dance with Me" and "Still the One," which were both released in 1976 and reached the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Orleans' music is a blend of rock, pop, and R&B, with a strong emphasis on vocal harmonies and catchy melodies. Their sound is often described as "soft rock" or "yacht rock," and their lyrics often touch on themes of love, romance, and relationships.
In addition to their commercial success, Orleans has also gained a reputation as a talented live band. They have toured extensively over the years, playing at festivals and venues around the world. They have also collaborated with a number of other musicians, including Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, and Little Feat.
Over the years, Orleans has undergone several lineup changes, with members coming and going. However, the band has continued to perform and record new music, with John Hall and Lance Hoppen remaining as core members. Their most recent album, "One of These Nights," was released in 2019.
Thanks to Brian Pratt for reminding me of this great band! -GSH
