Pentangle
Pentangle was a British folk-jazz band formed in 1967, known for their innovative blend of traditional folk music with elements of jazz, blues, and rock. The band members were Jacqui McShee (vocals), John Renbourn (guitar, vocals), Bert Jansch (guitar, vocals), Danny Thompson (double bass), and Terry Cox (drums).
The band's music was characterized by intricate arrangements and virtuosic instrumental performances, as well as McShee's ethereal vocals. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1968, featured a mix of traditional folk songs and original compositions, and was a critical and commercial success.
Pentangle went on to release several more albums throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including "Sweet Child" (1968), "Basket of Light" (1969), and "Cruel Sister" (1970), which further established the band's unique sound and musical vision.
Despite their success, Pentangle disbanded in 1973, with its members pursuing solo careers and other musical projects. However, they reunited for a few concerts in the 1980s and 1990s, and their influence on the folk and folk-rock genres continues to be felt.
