Stackridge
Stackridge is an English rock band that was formed in 1969 in Bristol. The band's original lineup consisted of Andy Davis (guitar, vocals), James Warren (guitar, bass, vocals), Mike Evans (violin, guitar), and Crun Walter (bass), Billy "Sparkle" Bent (drums) and Mutter Slater (flute, saxophone).
Stackridge's music is often described as eclectic and whimsical, with elements of rock, folk, and classical music blended together. The band's early albums, such as "Stackridge" (1971) and "Friendliness" (1972), were well received by critics and showcased the band's unique sound.
One of Stackridge's most famous songs is "Slark," which appeared on their 1974 album "The Man in the Bowler Hat." The song tells the story of a mythical creature called the Slark and features the band's trademark blend of humor and catchy melodies.
Stackridge disbanded in 1977, but reunited in the 2000s for a series of concerts and new recordings. The band released a new album, "A Victory for Common Sense," in 2009, which was well received by fans and critics alike.
Overall, Stackridge is a band known for its eclectic sound and whimsical approach to music, and their music has continued to resonate with fans long after their initial heyday in the 1970s.
