American Flyer was an American folk rock band that was active in the 1970s. The band was formed in 1976 by former members of several other popular bands, including Doug Yule (formerly of The Velvet Underground), Craig Fuller (formerly of Pure Prairie League), Steve Katz (formerly of Blood, Sweat & Tears), and Eric Kaz (formerly of Blues Magoos). American Flyer released two albums during their brief career: their self-titled debut album in 1976 and "Spirit of a Woman" in 1977. Their music combined elements of rock, country, and folk, and their lyrics often focused on themes of love, loss, and the American experience. Despite their talented roster of musicians and critical acclaim, American Flyer never achieved the same level of commercial success as some of their contemporaries, such as the Eagles or the Doobie Brothers. The band disbanded in 1978, and its members went on to pursue other projects. However, American Flyer's music has continued to resonate with fans of 1970s rock, and their songs have been covered by a variety of artists over the years. Some of their most popular tracks include "Let Me Down Easy," "Lady Blue Eyes," and "The Unknown Soldier." American Flyer (1975 - 1977)
