The Move

The Move was a British rock band that was formed in Birmingham, England in 1965. The group's original lineup consisted of Roy Wood on vocals and guitar, Bev Bevan on drums, Carl Wayne on vocals, Ace Kefford on bass, and Trevor Burton on guitar. They were known for their eclectic style, which blended elements of rock, pop, and psychedelia.

The band's early singles, such as "Night of Fear" and "I Can Hear the Grass Grow," were hits in the UK and helped establish their reputation as one of the most exciting new acts of the era. In 1968, they released their eponymous debut album, which featured a mix of original songs and covers.

Throughout the late 1960s, the band continued to release critically acclaimed albums, including "Shazam" and "Message from the Country." However, their most famous song is probably "Blackberry Way," which reached number one on the UK singles chart in 1968.

In 1970, the band underwent a major lineup change, with Wood leaving to form the band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). The remaining members continued as The Move, but without Wood's distinctive songwriting and vocal contributions, their popularity declined. The band eventually disbanded in 1972, with Bevan and other members going on to form the band ELO II.

Despite their relatively short career, The Move left a lasting impact on British rock music, influencing later bands such as Queen and Oasis.
