The Remains were an American garage rock band formed in Boston in 1964. The original members of the band were Barry Tashian (vocals, guitar), Bill Briggs (keyboards), Vern Miller (bass), and Chip Damiani (drums). The Remains quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in the Boston area, and they were signed to Epic Records in 1965. The band released several singles and an album, all of which are now considered classics of the garage rock genre. Despite their talent and critical acclaim, The Remains never achieved the level of commercial success they deserved. They were often overshadowed by other bands of the era, such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. In 1966, The Remains were chosen to be the opening act for The Beatles' final American tour. The band's energetic live shows won them many fans, but they were ultimately dropped by Epic Records in 1967. The Remains disbanded in 1966, but their music has since gained a cult following among fans of garage rock and 1960s rock and roll. Many of their songs have been covered by other artists, and the band has been cited as an influence by many musicians. In 2015, The Remains were inducted into the Boston Music Awards Hall of Fame, recognizing their contributions to the city's music scene. Despite their short career, The Remains remain an important part of rock and roll history, and their music continues to be enjoyed by fans around the world. The Remains I (1964 - 1966)
