Journey
Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973. The band initially consisted of members Gregg Rolie (keyboards and vocals), Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass), Aynsley Dunbar (drums), and George Tickner (guitar). They are known for their fusion of hard rock, progressive rock, and pop music, as well as for their power ballads and anthemic choruses.
Journey's early albums, such as "Journey" (1975) and "Look into the Future" (1976), were heavily influenced by progressive rock, with complex arrangements and extended instrumental passages. However, the band achieved mainstream success in the late 1970s and early 1980s with a more radio-friendly sound, featuring catchy melodies and accessible lyrics. This period included the release of their most successful albums, including "Infinity" (1978), "Evolution" (1979), and "Escape" (1981), which spawned hit singles like "Don't Stop Believin'", "Any Way You Want It", and "Open Arms".
Over the years, Journey has undergone numerous personnel changes, with vocalist Steve Perry joining the band in 1977 and helping to define their signature sound. Other notable members have included drummers Steve Smith and Deen Castronovo, and vocalist Arnel Pineda, who joined the band in 2007 and remains their current lead singer.
Journey has sold over 75 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. They have also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
