The Nazz was an American rock band formed in the 1960s. The band was fronted by Todd Rundgren, who would go on to become a successful solo artist and producer in his own right. The other members of the band included Carson Van Osten on bass guitar, Thom Mooney on drums, and Robert "Stewkey" Antoni on keyboards and vocals. The Nazz began as a garage rock band in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1967. They quickly gained a following with their energetic live performances and catchy songs, and were signed to the record label SGC Records. In 1968, The Nazz released their self-titled debut album, which featured a mix of rock and pop songs with psychedelic and experimental elements. The album received critical acclaim, but was not a commercial success. The band continued to tour and record, releasing two more albums, "Nazz Nazz" and "Nazz III", before disbanding in 1969. Despite their relatively short career, The Nazz had a significant influence on the development of power pop and garage rock, and Todd Rundgren went on to become one of the most innovative and influential artists of the 1970s and beyond.
